The Kingdom
A Polynesian Nation of Atooi
The Polynesian Kingdom of Atooi is a contemporary Indigenous Polynesian institution rooted in Atooi — the island known today as Kauaʻi — and in the governance traditions of Polynesia.
The Kingdom governs itself through its own offices, keeps its language, genealogy, protocol and ceremony in living use, and holds responsibility for the lands and waters in its care. It builds relationships with Polynesian and other Indigenous nations under customary protocol, and engages the wider world peacefully.
The Aliʻi Nui
Aliʻi Nui Aleka Aipoalani
Aliʻi Nui Aleka Aipoalani leads the Polynesian Kingdom of Atooi, carrying the kuleana of the Kingdom for its people, its culture and its land.
His work centres on cultural continuity, stewardship of lands and waters, peaceful relations with Indigenous nations across the Pacific and beyond, and the health, education and well-being of the communities of Atooi — held in trust for the generations to come.
